Madness Multi Sport Race
On Sunday 15 August
2010, Aaron Allan finished second to lead the Leith team of
Allan, Sam Cuthbert (3rd) and Bruce Knox (4th) to a win at
the Otago Road Championship (Wharf
Circuit) Boys 10 & under age grade. For
provisional results of the Junior age grades + Masters Women's
grades + 10km Handicap + 5km Open Race.

COUNTRY CHAMPS
Leith Athlete Andrew
Lonie finished 4th in the MM35-39 grade, Megan Balchin finished
13th in the senior women's grade and Jason Palmer (2010 Otago
Duathlon Champion) finished 31st in the senior men's grade
(Otago team 3rd) at the Athletics New Zealand Cross Country
Championships at Waikanae, North Island today Saturday 7 August.

On a day when Ariki
dominated the Senior Men's race spearheaded by Dougal Thorburn's
fine win over Caversham's Bevan Stevens, Leith's Andrew Lonie
(running in the SM grade) will be satisfied with his seventh
place finish. Kirsty Morris
was third in the Senior Women's race and Alan Funnell second
registered runner (third overall) in the MM35 race. Provisional
results are now available and a photo album that is
partly finished is viewable

HUGHES MEMORIAL RACE
Bill Kenny won Leith's
Hughes Memorial Handicap Open Grade road race for the first
time on Saturday 10 July 2010. The
race was held from the corner of Wickliffe and Fryatt Streets
(opposite the transmission station) and the distance this
year was 10.23km. For the minor placings and results of the
junior grades races.

CHINGFORD CHALLENGE
LEITH XC CHAMPS
At the Leith XC Champs
held at Chingford Park on Saturday 19 June 2010, Andrew Lonie
won the Leith XC Men's title as well as winning the MM35 title.
Kirsty Morris won the Senior Women's title with Louisa Andrew
winning the Master Women's 35 title. Leith won the Leith/Varsity
Chingford Challenge taking out both the Open Women's and Open
Men's title with Otago University unable to field full teams
due to exams.

Cross Country Champs 2010
PONYDALES
Caversham Senior Men's
No. 1 team has successfully defended its Open Men's title
after a titanic struggle with the strong Ariki team at the
30th Leith XC Relays (Ponydales) which this
year took place again at the Dunedin Pony Club, Three Mile
Hill, Dunedin on Saturday 15 May 2010. The
University of Otago Senior Women's No. 1 team won the Open
Women's title
from a quality Hill City team. For results, reports and images

Caversham has won the
Senior Men's Lovelock Relay title for 2010 and the Leith Master
Men's No. 1 team has won the Master Men's 35+ grade relay
at the University of Otago Lovelock Relays held at the University
Oval, Logan Park on Saturday 1 May 2010 and the Leith Masters
Women 35 team has won the Master Women's 35 title. For
more results and news (latest: "provisional" results
are now on line and a full Leith Harrier report will be out
soon.

Leith Athletes did
well at the King of the Mountain Race held from Whare Flat
on Sunday 11 April 2010. Glen Ferguson won overall
as well as the MM35+ grade. Alan Funnell finished 2nd overall
and 2nd in the MM35+ grade. Geoff Williamson won the Open

The Club AGM took place
on Tuesday 23 March 2010 at Chingford Park clubrooms, North
East Valley and the new club officials and committee were
selected. Congratulations to Ron McLay-Barnes on being selected
as the new club president for 2010 and 2011.

Sue Cuthbert, John
Bayne, Jim Kerse (full-marathon), and Andrew Lonie (half-marathon)
all had great runs at the 2009 Southland Marathon (ANZ Marathon
Champs) held on Sunday 22 November 2009. Cuthbert
won the gold medal in the MW40-49 grade. Bayne won the silver
medal in the ANZ Marathon MM45-49 grade. Jim Kerse won a bronze
in the MM60-64 grade. For results and report and to see how

The Leith Masters Women's team excelled
at the National Road Relay Championships 2009, Akaroa Relay,
held from Christchurch on Saturday 10 October 2009.
The team of Jan Craig, Louisa Andrew, Joy Wylie, Viv Eyers,
Jill Alexander, Jan Brosnahan, Meredith Molloy and Sue Cuthbert
won the Silver Medal for Leith. The Leith Open C Team finished

Road Relay 2009
Glen Ferguson finished second overall
in the Dunedin Moro Half-Marathon held on Sunday 13 September.
He was also first Master runner to finish. To cap
a great day for Leith, Richard Hendry took out the Master
Men's title in the full Marathon, while Sue Cuthbert finished
second woman overall and first Masters Women. Louisa Andrew
also featured in the Half-Marathon.

Leith's Master Men's 40 team
ran an excellent race to win the bronze medal after a tough
battle with Lake City and Wellington Harriers in the National
Road Relay Championships held out at Mosgiel and Outram on
Saturday (4 October 08)

Bill Kenny (Leith) finished second
in the USA M70 2000m Meter Steeplechase Championships
with an excellent time of 9 mins 36.35 seconds. Great going
Bill. He has also now finished second in the M70 800m USA
Championships with a time of 2:55.50 and third in the M70
1500m Championships with a time of 6:12.82.
Bill Kenny (Leith)
was crowned the Scottish Athletics Masters M70 1,500m champion
on the weekend of the 14/15th July 2007. The 1,500m
was run on the Saturday and Bill finished in a time of 6.13.45
in managing to outlast fellow M70 competitor Thomas O'Reilly
who finished in a time of 6.19.14. Sunday saw Bill competing
in the 800m. This time around Thomas O'Reilly turned the tables
finishing in a time of 2.55.0. Bill settled for second just
3 seconds behind in 2.58.0. The championships were held in
Grangemouth Stadium in Edinburgh. Report by Dr Kelvin Broad

CLYDE TO ALEXANDRA
10KM ROAD RACE
AND ASSOCIATED RACES
(included Otago 10km Road Champs for SM, SW, MM)
Ray Knox ran exceptionally
well to win the Otago Master Men's 35 title on Saturday 21
August 2010 and he was also the first Leith runner to finish
the course. His excellent time of 34min 41sec places
him in a good position for when he joins the Master Men's
50 ranks early next year. At this time we are still awaiting
the final results but other excellent performances from Leith
were Kirsty Morris's win in the Otago Senior Women's grade,
Megan Balchin's third in the same grade, Brian Pascoe's win
in the Master Men's 50 grade, Graham Anderson's second place
finish in the Master Men's 60 (non-championship grade) and
of course the winning Master Men's team of Knox, Alan Funnell
and Mark O'Donnell. Check Photo

enjoyed club runs and walks at the Ariki Harriers clubrooms,
Bayfield Park this Saturday 14 August 2010 starting from 1.45pm.
Everyone had a great time with some awesome runs
and walks, the weather held up and the fantastic refreshments
afterwards were appreciated by all. A full report is now available

Peninsula Relay 31
July 2010
Caversham White has
won the 2010 Peninsula Relay today Saturday 31 July 2010.
Caversham Black earned fastest team time of 2 hours 6 minutes
29 seconds. First Leith team to finish was the Leith Blue
which finished 9th. Leith White finished in 14th position.

BRIGHTON GREEN ISLAND
Helen Chignell (Hill
City) won the Brighton to Green Island Handicap Open 9.6km
road race on Saturday 17 July 2010. First Leith runner home
was Murray McCloy who finished in seventh place.

EDMOND CUP CROSS
COUNTRY
Kirsty Morris (Open
Women) and Chris Sole (Master Men 50) won their grades at
the Edmond Cup Steeplechase races on Saturday 26 June 2010
at Wingatui Racecourse. Andrew Lonie finished
a magnificent fourth in the Open Men's race while Alice Cuthbert,

At the Barnes Cross
Country Handicap Races held on Sunday 13 June 2010 at Kettle
Park, Ariki's Alan Nichols won the Open Men's race in a thrilling
finish from club mate Dougal Thorburn. Leith's Andrew Lonie
was just a second back in third place. Barbara
Patrick of Hill City won the Open Women's race with Leith's
Megan Balchin securing fastest time. Leith's Sam Cuthbert
won the Boys 12 and Under race with the Leith team of Cuthbert,
Jonty Horwell (5th) and Bruce Knox (6th) winning the Boys
12 teams event. The Leith team of Erin Knox (=2nd),
Heidi Aarsen (=2nd) and Alice Cuthbert (4th) won the Girls
12 & under teams event.

Park on Saturday 24 April 2010. He also won the
Master Men's 35 grade. Second across the line was Neale McLanachan

Hill Free Half-Marathon and 10km Road race held on Sunday
4 October 2009 out at Outram, Leith senior mens runner
Jason Palmer finished second in the 10km Road with a time
of 35 minutes 3 seconds. Megan Balchin finished third in the
