This Year for the first time,
the main race was run over the Olympic 1500m distance
to conform to the distance over which Jack Lovelock
of New Zealand won the gold medal at the 1936
Olympic Games in Berlin, Germany
This event is run over a 375m track around the soccer
fields in front of the Chingford Park Clubrooms. It
is entirely over grass and if the weather has been rainy
the going can get very slippery and muddy. Spikes may
need to be used. The back straight has a slight uphill
gradient and the home straight a slight downhill gradient.
Please arrive by 1.45pm so that you can give your name
to the entry stewards. The open men's maiden 1500m
awards goes to the first runner from any age grade to
finish, who has previously not won a club event. Please
note that the starting times and number of races may
differ depending on the number of entries in each grade.
Races 2, 3 and 4 may be combined into one race if there
are few runners.
